Lena on your hotel website: from guest questions to booking

Lena on your hotel website: what shipped on 26 October 2026, how guests reach your booking page and which checks come next.

An AI concierge on a hotel website can answer questions about the destination and guide visitors to the property's own booking page. Lena Concierge shipped the technical website integration in its 26 October 2026 release. A more compact chat interface has also been prepared, but has not yet been released.

As of 30 October 2026, Lena can be embedded on the website of a specific hotel or holiday apartment, with approved website addresses and the property's own booking page configured.

Why put a guest concierge on the hotel website?

Someone considering a stay in Saas-Fee, in the Swiss canton of Valais, often has questions before making a booking. Does the resort suit their plans? What could they do during their visit? Where can they book the particular hotel they are looking at?

An embedded AI concierge lets them ask those questions where they are making the decision. With Lena, the chat is associated with a particular property and can use the available knowledge about that property's destination. Guests do not need to install a separate app to start a conversation.

This provides another way to ask for help. Personal advice and the property's booking system remain important parts of the journey.

What changed at Lena between 23 and 30 October?

Shipped on 26 October: embedding for a specific property

The released version includes a chat panel that opens on an approved website. Setup associates it with a particular hotel or holiday apartment. Operators specify which website addresses may display it and, where applicable, which booking page it should use.

Being associated with a property does not identify a visitor as a registered guest. Opening the chat on a public hotel website does not unlock protected house instructions or information about an individual stay. Those still require the appropriate guest access.

The property must be active and belong to a destination supported by Lena. The technical integration therefore does not automatically activate every accommodation provider in Switzerland. Activation and the current scope of the offer need to be confirmed before deployment.

The property's own booking page becomes the next step

When a visitor asks about accommodation, Lena can direct them to the property's configured booking page. A link can carry travel dates and guest details that the visitor explicitly provided, where the booking engine supports those parameters.

The link itself neither checks room availability nor confirms a reservation. Prices and availability may come from a separate connection to the hotel's system, where configured. The actual booking takes place with the property or in its booking system.

Prepared on 27 October: a more compact chat interface

A further interface has been prepared to put the conversation at the centre of the embedded experience, without the additional navigation sections of the standalone Lena application. A version that sits directly within a section of the web page has also been prepared.

As of 30 October 2026, this update is not part of the production version. Its behaviour on smaller screens and the handoff to each property's booking page need to be checked before use.

An example: from planning a holiday to the booking page

A visitor opens a hotel website in Saas-Fee, asks about a stay for two and provides her travel dates. Lena can draw on the available destination information and offer the appropriate link to that hotel's configured booking page.

On the booking page, she checks the available rooms, terms and price. Only confirmation from the booking system turns interest into a reservation.

This illustrates the intended journey; it is not a measured customer result. It also does not establish that an anonymous website conversation already transfers seamlessly into personal guest access after booking.

What guests, accommodation providers and destinations could gain

Guests: ask questions in the context of the chosen property

A website chat can connect questions about the resort with the property the visitor is considering. The practical benefit is a shorter path from information to the next action.

Whether guests find this entry point easily and consider the answers useful still needs to be assessed in actual use.

Hotels and holiday apartments: another service point on their own website

The property gains another way to help someone considering a trip. Its existing booking system remains the place where the stay is booked.

This requires a correct booking link, maintained information and an accessible staff contact for questions needing personal attention.

More direct bookings or less pressure on reception may be implementation goals. No reliable results on those measures have yet been established for Lena.

Destinations: another route to local information

Guests start learning about a destination on many separate websites. If an embedded concierge can use information assigned to the right location, it gives them another way to discover the area.

The destination organization does not have to operate every hotel website. It can help clarify responsibility for local content, updates and feedback.

That is a possible model for cooperation, not an announcement of a partnership.

How this fits into tourism digitalization

In its tourism strategy, SECO describes the fragmented structure of Swiss tourism as a challenge for digitalization. Regional and national cooperation matter alongside innovation by individual businesses. The ongoing strategy page was checked for this article on 30 October 2026.

The Tourobs Digital Transformation Canvas, published on 20 August 2026, starts with guest needs and organizational processes. It asks where digital tools add value along the journey and how their effect can be measured. Applied to Lena, that means an additional chat feature needs to prove its usefulness through a clear guest journey.

A separate example comes from Davos Klosters' announcement of 23 June 2026. The destination describes a shared data and content base, an online holiday shop and guest communication across channels.

One practical lesson for smaller solutions is the importance of clear handoffs between information and services. This example does not imply an integration or partnership with Lena.

Next steps: check the complete guest journey

Three checks make sense before the next implementation:

  • Website and interface: test opening and closing the chat on the approved domain, including on a smartphone and with keyboard controls.
  • Booking handoff: try different dates and party details, then check what the property's booking engine actually receives. The chat must not describe a link as a completed booking.
  • Operations and evaluation: assign responsibility for information and follow-up questions. Then assess whether guests receive useful answers and reach the booking page.

These are proposed next steps, not completed implementation tests. The compact interface first needs its own release. New destinations need suitable local content and activation.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI concierge on a hotel website?
It is an assistant that answers questions in an embedded chat. With Lena, that chat is associated with a particular property and can direct visitors to its own booking page.
What did Lena ship on 26 October 2026?
The release includes technical website embedding, association with a particular property and use of a configured booking page. The compact chat interface has not been released as of 30 October.
Does Lena automatically book a room in the website chat?
