How Lena’s October release connects French, Italian and Russian questions with more knowledge about Switzerland and Valais.

Multilingual guest service needs clear answers and the right information behind them. With its 16 October 2026 release, Lena Concierge expands access to knowledge about Switzerland and Valais for questions in French, Italian and Russian. The five chat languages remain German, English, French, Italian and Russian. Reviewed on 18 October 2026.

Why language matters to the knowledge behind an answer

A guest may write in French while useful information is stored in English. A multilingual chat window alone does not make that connection: the concierge needs to find the information and use it in an appropriate answer.

For Saas-Fee in Valais, this is a practical guest-service requirement. Switzerland Tourism’s language distribution page describes the country’s multilingual setting and the use of German and French in Valais. Source checked on 18 October 2026.

What changed in Lena’s October release

The change released on 16 October adds to information retrieval for French, Italian and Russian questions. Where needed, supplementary English-language national and regional information can be considered when it is unavailable in the question’s language.

Source language and answer language have separate roles

An English source can therefore inform the answer without asking the guest to continue in English. The existing response controls remain directed towards the language of the conversation.

That is the concrete progress: language support extends beyond the visible interface to access to existing knowledge across languages.

Where the supplement comes from

The English supplement comes from meaning-based retrieval. The search for relevant terms still runs in the guest’s language and adds no English material. Supplementary information is selected from knowledge about Switzerland and the region. It does not create a newly translated edition of every item.

The value for guests, hosts and destinations

Guests can keep using their language

Someone asking a question during a stay should be able to focus on what they need. Broader knowledge access supports the goal of considering relevant information for French, Italian and Russian questions too.

Hotels and holiday apartments can use existing knowledge more widely

Hosts need maintained information to reach guests in understandable answers. National and regional knowledge can support guest service while accommodation information keeps its own context. This approach does not require recreating the entire information base separately for each guest language.

Destinations connect content maintenance with language access

A destination can maintain information and check whether visitors can reach it in different languages. For other resorts, this is a useful design question: where does a fact come from, which place does it belong to and in which language can it be used?

How this fits tourism digitalisation

Switzerland Tourism includes language technologies and translation services in its Technology Radar, dated Q3 2025, as a way to make tourism offerings accessible to international guests. Page checked on 18 October 2026.

For Lena, this becomes a specific development task: a conversation needs both language understanding and access to relevant knowledge. The new retrieval path brings the two together in guest service.

What to check next

The next comparison should use the same everyday questions in all five languages. It should examine the information reached, the answer’s language and understandable handling of short follow-ups.

Native speakers should also review typical answers. The change has been released; equal quality across languages and time saved for hosts are not presented here as measured outcomes.
